1924 Riley 10.8 HP 11/40 Sports Tourer. Finished in Prussian Blue, with Black Wings, and an all Leather Pale Blue interior , Black Gloss Wire Wheels and Black Mohair Hood. This car has an interesting provenance, which can be traced back to the chassis being shipped to Australia in 1925 and bodied as a four seat tourer. During the war years the car was transformed into a pick-up, then stored for 40 years, until its discovery by an enthusiast of the marque. The car was stripped and fitted with a beautifully engineered, hand crafted all alloy body, by the renowned body builder "Coachcraft" of Melbourne. At the same time the original engine, gearbox and Riley embossed rear axle and running gear, were all rebuilt. The cost estimate ranging fro £80.000 to £100.000. Viewing the car today would substantiate these figures. On return ton the UK, the car remained unused for many years and has since been lightly recommissioned and used once as Wedding transport. Of late, the car has had the wings repainted and some additional detailing undertaken. The overhauled engine is beautifully detailed, starts instantly and pulls well through the gears. This Riley is quite stunning, very pretty, brilliantly competent and very usable. Selling at a fraction of the restoration costs, the car has huge investment potential. Ready to be enjoyed by any enthusiast, or collector. Truly, a exemplary example of this great British marque, together with decades of history. Supported by a file of paperwork and photographs.
